Little Friends is a private, non-profit organization serving children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Based in Naperville, Illinois, Little Friends operates 11 dynamic programs including three alternative schools, family support and consultation services, vocational training programs, community-based residential services and the Little Friends Center for Autism. Founded in 1965, Little Friends serves more than 800 people each year throughout DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Will, and western Cook counties.
The Autism Service Provider and Beyond mission is to provide individualized family-centered services to create an optimal environment for individuals and families impacted by Autism. It is important to look at the functioning of the child and the entire family system. Then after determining the best course of action for the entire family unit, it is implemented by the consultant and the parents. It is firmly believed that all children can learn, and if they aren’t, then we are doing something wrong.
The Fingerprints Therapy Services clinic in Naperville offers a wide range of pediatric therapies for children of all ages to assist children reach their full potential. I am a pediatric occupational therapist with 31 years of experience working with children and adults who have disabilities. I have worked in a variety of settings but for the last 21 years I have focused on the 0-5 population. I have a solid background in special education since the first 6 years of my career I was a special education teacher. I also worked in school based practice as an OT for 6 years evaluating and treating the 3-5 year old population. My specialty areas include, sensory processing, prematurity, Down Syndrome, social thinking, physical disabilities, Autism programming, executive function skills and supporting families as they advocate for their children in the school setting. Lorri is a child development specialist with over 25 years experience working with a variety of children, ages birth through five, including children on the autism spectrum, with motor planning challenges and developmental delays/disorders. Her youngest son had low tone and sensory challenges which provides Lorri with another level of developmental insight. Teena has been a pediatric physical therapist for 20 years. She has treated a variety of children including those with neurological, muscular, and sensory motor disorders as well as a variety of syndromes. Finding resources and establishing relationships for your child are crucial if you suspect your child has any type of developmental delay or disorder.
